I hit a pretty nasty pothole last week and ever since then, the front end of my car feels a bit loose or rattly when I go over uneven roads. I'm taking it to a garage tomorrow but it got me thinking about how our climate might be making things worse. I've been reading a bit about preventing suspension problems in hot climates because a friend mentioned that the heat here degrades rubber bushings and seals much faster than in cooler places. My car is a few years old and I've never really had the suspension checked, only the engine stuff. Is this something I should be getting inspected regularly? Also, aside from damage from bad roads, are there specific signs that the heat is affecting components like shocks or struts? I want to make sure I'm not missing something that could become a bigger issue later.
